At Bowling Green, Leaving Electronic Waste Behind

For six hours last month, the stuff kept arriving at Bowling Green, all 8,692 pounds of it. Chords and keyboards, flat screens and fax machines, giant TVs and tiny cell phones. Here lay the mounds of (mostly) obsolete electronic detritus that once filled people’s apartments and occupied important places in their lives.

 

It was collection day at the park, part of the Downtown Alliance’s annual “Mulchfest,” where, on one side of the park, a machine was chewing up Christmas trees and, on the other, a truck from the company WeRecyle!, Inc., waited to carry the hardware to Mt. Vernon, and to oblivion in the company shredder. Full Article
