EcoBizNYC Internships

The Lower East Side Ecology Center seeks interns to work in its small business sustainability program, EcoBizNYC. Preference will be given to students who can receive credit (undergraduate or graduate) through their schools. Interns should be able to work 15 or more hours per week, and commit for the Spring semester (January-May). Stipends to cover travel expenses are available.

EcoBizNYC interns will provide small businesses in the East Village/Lower East Side with resources to reduce overall carbon emissions, reduce negative impacts on community health, and increase community engagement while saving money. Interns will enroll small businesses in the EcoBizNYC program and work with participating small business owners to provide an assessment of the business' "environmental baseline." Interns will provide businesses with a checklist of steps and resources to help reduce harmful emissions and increase energy efficiency. Interns will develop assessments, work on reporting and business monitoring, and develop program content. Other projects may include a newsletter, grant application writing, and/or developing incentives and resources materials; additional opportunities to work on other Lower East Side Ecology Center programs may be possible. Knowledge of the NYC community, particularly the East Village/Lower East Side is a plus.
