With Tekserve closing its doors to its retail store the Lower East Side Ecology Center is losing a brilliant partner in making e-waste recycling accessible to all New Yorkers.
It all started in 2007, when Tekserve’s co-founders David Lerner and Dick Demenus invited the Lower East Side Ecology Center to hold an collection event for unwanted electronics in front of the store. David and Dick were trail blazers in their holistic approach to the end of life of equipment they sold in their store, and they put their money where their hearts were. As our partnership grew, we were able to develop a citywide e-waste collection program and open a permanent drop off location, the Gowanus E-waste warehouse. We would like to express how tremendously thankful we are for this opportunity, and hope to continue this important program.
