In 2025, we conducted a Community Food Needs Assessment of Manhattan Community Board 3 (including the majority of the Lower East Side, East Village, and Chinatown) to understand local food access challenges, existing resources, and opportunities for addressing food insecurity. This report presents the findings of that assessment, which drew on a public survey, community interviews, fieldwork, desk research, tabling experiences, and conversations with neighborhood residents.
