E-Waste

We are the largest non-municipal provider of e-waste recycling services in NYC. We offer two ways for residents to participate in our e-waste recycling programs: you can bring your electronics to our Gowanus E-Waste Warehouse, or to a one-day collection event, which we offer in all five boroughs on a seasonal basis.

Our Gowanus E-Waste Warehouse is New York City’s only free, permanent e-waste drop-off facility. We accept all varieties of consumer electronics, which we reuse and recycle in an environmentally and socially responsible way. We are open 5 days/week for drop-offs, shopping at our ReUse Store, and by-appointment browsing of our one-of-a-kind Prop Library.

Any New York resident, small business, or non-profit organization can drop-off unwanted electronics at our permanent e-waste collection center. If your equipment works, let us know and we will try to give it a second life. Whether your equipment gets reused or recycled, we guarantee data security.

For a full list of acceptable items (and what we do not accept) please see our FAQ section. Home appliances such as microwaves, vacuum cleaners, refrigerators, or air conditioners will not be accepted.

All drop-offs (donations) are free and tax-deductible.

Information about art and creative materials

We are occasionally able to make some of the materials we collect available for creative uses. This is on a case-by-case basis. Please email us at reuse@lesecologycenter.org and describe what you are looking for and when you will need the materials. Pricing depends on the type and quantity of the material requested.

The Lower East Side Ecology Center’s e-waste programs are made possible thanks to the generous support of the New York Community Trust, ConEdison, and Tekserve.
